Den Lennie is an author and business coach for video production company owners. He helps them escape the operator ceiling and build a business that scales without them in every seat.
Den didn't arrive at coaching from a spreadsheet. He has three decades in production: he started in broadcast television and built and ran his own production company for around a decade before he began coaching. So he has sat in the same seat his clients sit in, chasing work, holding scope, pricing under pressure, and trying to build something that doesn't depend on him being on every shoot.
Over the past eight years, VBA clients have generated more than $52M in additional revenue, with average client growth of around $292K in 18 months. Across 178 or more video businesses, the average member stays around 27 months, and many are now in their fifth and sixth year.
Den is the author of five books for video business owners across more than a decade. The current one is The S.C.A.L.E. Method (2026), the framework that underpins VBA coaching. His first, Business for Filmmakers, was published in 2014. In between sit 30 Lies You Tell Yourself About Growing a Video Business, A Filmmaker's Guide to Budgets and Quotes, and Marketing for Filmmakers.
VBA runs inside F-Stop Academy Australia Pty Ltd, alongside SceneOps, the marketing, pipeline and CRM platform every member gets as part of their membership.
